Michaelis Ranch
The Michaelis Ranch is located approximately four miles west of Kyle, Texas, on the edge of the Texas Hill Country. M. G. Michaelis Sr. founded the ranch in the 1890’s and in the ensuing years became known as the largest jack and jennet breeder in Texas. In 1934, he brought the first Charolais bulls to the ranch and became the first breeder of Charolais cattle in the United States. His daughter-in-law, Helen Hall Michaelis, later lived on the ranch and was one of the founders of the American Quarter Horse Association. The view from the old ranch house windows has changed a great deal in recent years with an explosion of growth in this scenic area of Texas, but ranching is still our business and the “open” sign is out!
